How to use it

How the block calculator works

The calculator divides the expanded volume you need by the stated expansion of one block and rounds up to a whole block. It then multiplies by the unit weight. The figures it uses are supplier-stated: about 65 litres for a 5 kg block, about 15 litres for a 1 kg block and about 9 litres for a 650 g briquette.

Worked example

For 2,000 litres from 5 kg blocks: 2,000 ÷ 65 = 30.8, rounded up to 31 blocks, about 155 kg dry weight. For the same volume from 1 kg blocks: 2,000 ÷ 15 = 133.3, so 134 blocks, about 134 kg.

What it does not do

Real expansion changes with grade, water and method, and your process may lose some volume, so confirm on a sample. The calculator does not set price. For quotes by pallet and tonne, read how to compare bulk coco peat quotes, and send your number through the block quote form.
